Burton Park is the oldest and best known of our developed parks. The central location and diversity of activities help to draw a wide spectrum of users and is heavy utilized year-round. It currently contains Madsen softball diamond, Flanagan baseball field, a large soccer field, three lighted tennis courts, two full basketball courts, a tennis practice court, two horseshoe pits, the Kiwanis Recreation Building, two children’s play areas (one completely fence-enclosed and each with a play structure, slide, and swings), park benches, picnic tables, barbecue pits, and a turfed play area. The park has a natural watershed along the shores of San Francisco Bay. Features include an extensive intertidal salt marsh, meadow and oak habitats, that are home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, squirrels and numerous birds.
Visit China Camp Village and walk through the house museum describing early Chinese settlement.
The park offers fifteen miles of hiking trails. The trails are heavily used during spring and summer weekends. Be prepared for crowds.
Visitors enjoy wildlife-watching, hiking, swimming, boating and windsurfing.
Twenty five developed picnic sites and a group picnic area for up to two hundred people can be reserved.
